Good bye Jingle Bell the Elf

Our elf, Jingle Bell, headed home on Christmas Eve. She had a lot of fun while she was here and it was really cute to see both kids search the house for her since last time we had the elf visit Marley was terrified of her and Mason was too little to get it.  Here's her final adventures.

On Christmas eve she got on her reindeer and rode home to the North Pole. See you next year Jingle Bell.

Elf Update

Our Elf, Jingle Bell, has been around for a while now and she's just as clever as ever. Some nights she's too tired to fly home, but the kids are okay with that. Mason always searching for her and usually runs to where she was the day before only to realize she's gone. It's pretty cute. Here's what she's been up to since last time.

Poor thing got tied up by some of the other toys and here comes a train!

I've seen several of these on Pinterest and I finally had some kisses so I placed her in the bathroom window. Marley seemed upset that she wasted chocolate.

She climbed our fireplace rocks for two days, must be hard work.

Mason actually found her first this day. He didn't seem to care that she was up there though.

Looking for coffee. She must be getting tired of all these late night North Pole trips.

Jingle Bell will fly home in just a few days so I'm really trying to come up with some great ideas. What has your elf done?

Our Elf is back

Well, it's that time of the year again. All the elves have made their way back to their families and ours has shown up right on time. We first met our elf 2 years ago, Mason was just 8 months old so he didn't understand and Marley hated it. She said it was creepy and scared her.  She did name him Jack though, but never really enjoyed it.  Last year, our elf didn't come because we were in the process of moving into our rental and he must of been lost.  This year, Jack didn't come again. A girl elf showed up instead. Mason's older and Marley still wasn't thrilled to have an elf, but we read the book and decided to name her Jingle Bell.  She's been around for almost two weeks and so far so good. Marley seems okay with her. Maybe because Mason likes the elf, Marley decided it's not too bad. Not sure, but glad there's no tears over an elf on the shelf.  Here's what Jingle Bell has been up to so far.

Night 39- Christmas Eve Morning

After Marley got over her fear of Jack, I think she really enjoyed it. She keeps asking when he's coming back, so maybe he'll make a few visits throughout the year just to keep an eye on her. She did say that next year he'll watch Mason instead of her.

Jack- Week Three

Night Fourteen
Riding a ladybug decoration.

Night Fifteen
He hung this wreath up, but didn't finish making it...yet.

Night Sixteen

Night Seventeen
Marley had been playing with playdoh all day so that night Jack decided he wanted to play too. Marley was upset in the morning though because she wanted to use the scissors. Since you can't touch Jack I had to grab the scissors and pull them from his hands so Marley could play with them.

Night Eighteen
Jack was really tired and forgot to fly back to Santa- oops!

Night Nineteen
Jack found a friend to play blocks with.

Night Twenty

Dining with baby.  This was in Marley's room, she went up to play later and didn't want him in there so I had to scoop him into a basket and carry him downstairs. HA!

Jack- Week One

Night One

His first night out and he didn't even make it back inside before morning! When Marley woke up and saw this she screamed and ran back into her room crying. She wouldn't leave her room until I came up there and carried her downstairs. She is terrified of him! Maybe if he's doing more fun stuff she'll like him a little better.

Night Two

Going fishing. Marley come down and went to the bathroom and didn't say anything, so when Mike went in there he noticed that Jack was swimming with the fishes. So he set him back up there while Marley was searching the house for Jack and she eventually saw him. All day she was talking to him and laughing because he was on the tub in the dark. Much better reaction to him today than yesterday.

Night Three

Roasting marshmallows. Marley immediately saw him up on the stove and thought it was so funny that he was roasting a marshmallow. She wanted me to light his candle/fire for him though!

Night Four

Just going for a ride with a sock monkey on a dinosaur.

Night Five

It took Marley a while to find him here but when she did she cracked up laughing. She seemed a little happy that since he was in there he couldn't actually see her.

Night Six

Going for a ride on a remote control truck. Thanks for the help baby doll.

Night Seven

Just hanging out on the towel bar in the bathroom.

I'm already running out of ideas of what to do with him. I think our biggest problem is that you can't touch him, so I can't put him anywhere that will require us to have to move him. I've seen ideas online of things to do, but we don't have a lot of extra tables or places to set him that would allow him to stay there all day. Maybe once we get our Christmas decorations up that will help a little too.

Is anyone else doing the Elf on the Shelf this year? I would love to hear some other ideas of what to do with him.
